Systems and Computing (SyCom) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes contributions in all areas of systems and computing.
The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:
Original Research Articles
Review Articles
Technical Notes
Case Studies
Short Communications
All manuscripts must be written in English and should demonstrate scholarly rigor, methodological soundness, and a clear contribution to the field.
Submissions are accepted year-round from researchers worldwide.
Initial submissions can be in PDF or DOCX format. However, upon acceptance, authors are required to format their manuscripts using the official DOCX template provided by the journal.
By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to comply with all journal policies, including ethical standards and the article withdrawal policy. Withdrawal of a manuscript after the peer-review process has started—particularly after receiving reviewers’ comments—is strongly discouraged and must be supported by a valid and clearly justified reason, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics(COPE).
2. Manuscript Preparation
2.1 Paper Organization
Title: Concise and representative of the main contribution.
Introduction: Present study objectives, context, significance, and proposed solution.
Related Work (if applicable): Review prior studies and highlight novelty.
Methodology / Materials and Methods: Describe datasets, algorithms, software, and evaluation. Established methods can be briefly referenced. Include relevant software versions and hardware specifications.
Results and Discussion: Present findings clearly; use past tense for study results.
Conclusion and Future Work: Summarize major findings and contributions.
References: Follow the journal’s reference style (see the References Guidelines section below).
2.2 Manuscript Length
Manuscripts should normally be between 8 and 25 pages in single-column format, including figures, tables, and references.
Longer submissions may be considered if the additional content is scientifically justified.
This range ensures clarity, focus, and facilitates rigorous peer review.
2.3 Figures, Tables, and Equations
Figures must be of high resolution, properly numbered, and clearly labeled. They should be placed as close as possible to their first citation in the text. All text within figures must be legible and of sufficient size and quality.
Tables must be editable and not embedded as images within the manuscript. They should be clearly structured, properly numbered, and include concise titles.
Graphs, as a type of figure, must include clearly labeled axes, appropriate units, legends where necessary, and ensure overall readability.
All figures and tables must be cited in the text in a sequential manner.
Equations must be created using an appropriate equation editor and formatted consistently throughout the manuscript. Equations should be numbered consecutively if they are referenced in the text. All variables and symbols must be clearly defined upon first use.
2.4 References
References should follow the IEEE citation style, using numbered citations in the order of appearance in the text (e.g., [1], [2], …).
Authors are encouraged to include a sufficient number of recent and relevant references (typically 20 or more).
Authors are encouraged to include recent and relevant references that reflect the current state of the research field.
Web sources should be avoided unless they are used to cite datasets or other essential resources.
Whenever available, Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) should be included.
Excessive self-citation should be avoided.
2.5 Language and Style
Use clear, concise, and precise academic English.
Maintain logical flow, coherent paragraphs, and structured sections.
3. Ethics and Publication Policies
Plagiarism Policy All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20-25% (excluding references, quotations, and properly cited content) may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
Double-Blind Peer Review The journal follows a double-blind peer review process. Authors must ensure that their manuscript is fully anonymized. Names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and any identifying information must be removed from the main document to preserve the integrity of the review process. Authors should also avoid self-identifying references where possible (e.g., “in our previous work…”).
Ethics Approval Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must comply with relevant ethical standards. Authors must provide a statement including the name of the approving ethics committee and the reference number, where applicable.
Data Availability Authors are required to include a Data Availability Statement indicating how the data supporting the findings of the study can be accessed. This may include links to public repositories or a statement explaining any restrictions on data access.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Transparency Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of their manuscript (e.g., for language editing, data analysis, or figure generation). The extent and purpose of AI usage must be clearly stated. AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Conflict of Interest Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
4. Submission Process
Submit your manuscript through our online platform after registering and logging in.
All submissions undergo editorial screening for relevance and originality, followed by peer review.
Once accepted, authors should format their articles using the official template (download template.docx).
All accepted articles are assigned a DOI through CrossRef and are published in a formal issue of Systems and Computing.
